AHAs – The Gentle Resetters

Gentle exfoliants that dissolve dead skin cells and refine texture. Used in AgeBiome™ rituals to reset the surface and prepare the skin for deeper regeneration—without disrupting the biome.

What It Is

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are a group of water-soluble exfoliating acids naturally derived from fruits, milk, or sugar. Common types include lactic acid, glycolic acid, and mandelic acid. AHAs work by gently breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more efficiently and revealing fresher, smoother skin beneath.

Unlike physical scrubs that can scratch or inflame, AHAs offer a controlled, chemical form of exfoliation that respects the skin’s structure when used in correct concentrations. They also help attract and retain moisture, especially milder forms like lactic acid.

Why It Matters in Skin & Scalp Health

In AgeBiome™ protocols, AHAs are part of the Reset phase, where exfoliation is necessary to clear biological buildup and prepare the DEJ (Dermal-Epidermal Junction) or follicular bulb for actives. AHAs remove the surface “noise” without disrupting the underlying biome or barrier function.

When delivered through well-sequenced rituals, AHAs improve tone, texture, and absorption, allowing peptides, collagen, and antioxidants to perform more effectively. They also play a role in managing hyperpigmentation and dullness, common signs of ageing and slow cellular turnover.

Biological Benefits

Why AgeBiome™ incorporates AHAs into exfoliation rituals:
  • Gently dissolves dead skin cells to promote smoother texture
  • Stimulates cellular turnover to refresh and reset ageing skin
  • Improves absorption of serums and regenerative actives
  • Brightens and clarifies by lifting dull, uneven layers
  • Hydrates and exfoliates simultaneously (especially lactic acid)
  • Prepares the DEJ and scalp zones for deeper ingredient delivery

How It Feels in Ritual

AHAs create a clean, awakened sensation—not a burn or sting. When buffered and layered correctly, they feel more like a soft reset than an aggressive peel. The skin feels immediately more refined and alive, with no compromise to comfort.

What It Means for You

AHAs give your skin the chance to let go of what’s holding it back—revealing clarity, softness, and renewed responsiveness to your full ritual.

“Exfoliation isn’t about stripping—it's about making space for regeneration.”
