Chemical Sunscreen
Chemical sunscreens use organic (carbon-based) compounds that absorb UV rays, convert them into heat, and release them from the skin. Common filters include avobenzone, octinoxate, and oxybenzone. They offer strong, invisible protection but may cause irritation for some skin types. In the AgeBiome™ context, chemical sunscreens must be balanced with calming, barrier-safe ingredients, especially post-ritual.
Why It’s Used:
- Absorbs UVB and/or UVA rays before they damage skin cells
- Provides lightweight, invisible sun protection
- Often preferred for deeper penetration and water resistance
- Suitable for daily wear under makeup or active routines
- Must be carefully formulated to avoid biome disruption
- May require reapplication more frequently than mineral options
What It Means for You:
Chemical sunscreens help you stay protected without residue, but they work best when paired with calming care—especially after active rituals or exfoliation.
